Secluded, pristine and rugged describe this 870 acres of private property located North of Dolores, Colorado and about three miles east of Groundhog Lake.   Colorado hunting at its finest.  At an elevation of 9500 feet, it is bordered on two sides by the San Juan National Forest and has beautiful views of Groundhog Lake and the Rocky Mountains.  There are two live streams, a two acre pond full of trout and nine other ponds on the property.  Elk Hunting, Mule Deer Hunting and Bear Hunting, Four-Wheeling, Snowmobiling, Cross-Country Skiing or Hiking, what ever your pleasure is, .....  LET THE ADVENTURE BEGIN !

Larry Suckla is your host for this DIY hunting adventure.  This is a "one-on-one" hunting adventure.  It is a non-guided hunt, a "Do-It-Yourself" hunting adventure for you and up to three more of your hunting companions.

The lodging is in a 2450 square foot building with 6 Queen size beds upstairs and full kitchen facilities downstairs.  Electricity from gas powered generator.  Larry will pick you and your group up at the airport;  assist you in securing provisions and take you to the ranch and return you to the airport.  He will give you/your group a guided orientation trip of the ranch.. showing you boundaries,  trails, stand locations, etc.  You can use 4 wheel drive vehicles and ATV's on the property.  Field Handling of game is NOT included,  but help is available for a modest fee.

This ranch is located in area #71,  in the southwest corner of Colorado.   Elk tags are available over the counter.  Mule deer and bear tags must be applied for in the annual draw. The world record Mule Deer was taken from area #71,   about 4 miles from the Aspen Gold Ranch in Dolores County, Colorado.

The San Juan National Forest borders the ranch on the east and south side.. over 2 million acres of huntable game lands.

The price is $1,000 per week,  per hunter.  There's 4 weeks of archery season and 4 weeks of rifle season.. Call now to reserve the week you want for you and your group.. Larry says he'd like to hold it to four (4) hunters per week.  The last week of gun season is "iffy"as it may be snowed in and not very kind to hunters.  See thumbnails below for information on the 2003 hunting seasons.
